Most refreshing thoughts.Yes we need a new way of doing things with a new sensible real politics for the ordinary hard working disenfranchised. It is time to move on from the broad church populist parties; the province desperately needs a new alternative on the centre right. NI Conservatives should pick up the mantle here .We need opposition to take on the wastage of high spending centre left executive,NI is still stuck in the time warp of the 1970s public sector led approach which crowds out the private sector. We need to free up public bodies to competition to release entrepeneurial and managerial energy .NI missed out on the Thatcher revolution much of which has been accepted even by the centre left in GB.It doesnt mean giving up the block grant just spending it more wisely to encourage job creation through the private sector and using tools available to kick start the economy. We can no longer rely on the public sector to create jobs .The executive pay lip service to rebalancing but fail to use the tools at its disposal.

I couldn't agree more with the sentiment of this article. It's time to drop the idealistic viewpoint (which is easy to argue but difficult to implement) and get real about effective ways to help the disabled.
